Most German universities require 12 years of schooling. A one-year Studienkolleg or private Foundation fills academic gaps, teaches German to B2/C1, and prepares you for the Feststellungsprüfung — the gateway exam for free public universities.

FAQ: studying in the USA

Yes. Public universities in 14 of 16 federal states charge only a semester contribution (€150–€350). Baden-Württemberg charges €1 500 per semester. We guide you to the right state and scholarship options.

Over 2 000 programmes are entirely in English. For German-taught degrees you need TestDaF 4×4 or DSH-2. We arrange language prep and exams.

Students may work 120 full days or 240 half days per year without additional permits. EU Blue Card pathways open after graduation.

To receive a German student visa you must show living funds (~€11 208) in a blocked account (Sperrkonto). GLOSS helps you open it online and transfer funds safely.
